This week we came to the end of another of our Women’s Survivors Group Course.
We had some fantastic feedback about how the course had impacted the women who attended.
100% said that the course had improved their emotional stability
100% said that the course had improved their confidence
100% said that the course had improved their self esteem
100 % said that the course had improved feelings of isolation
100 % said that the course had improved their relationships
100% said that the course had reduced negative behaviour patterns
100% said that they now felt more hopeful since completing the course
However, perhaps the most important feedback was that many of the women said that the course had helped them feel less isolated and lonely – here are some of the comments:
This is the first time I have been able to share my abuse in a group with other survivors so this has massively helped my isolation .It has helped me work though issues such as shame and boundaries in my therapy sessions alongside this course. I am able to identify my triggers more quickly and express grief more readily rather than bury it. It has helped me work through difficulties in my relationships.
I don’t feel so lonely in my traumatic experience. I don’t feel so much shame and can talk about my past more freely. It is a very intensive course but I am glad I took part.
Benefitted is too smaller a word 😊… The course has been immensely helpful as it can put into words so many things I have felt and also answered so many questions I had about how I feel and yet couldn’t put into words. I have found meeting others who have gone through the same things as me including the facilitators the best thing ever as for the first time in my life I have not felt alone and have felt like I belong somewhere. That’s kind of recognition is worth so much.
We have a new group starting in the Spring – and we are preparing for that group now – if you are a Woman Survivor in a place of stability with some support – please email us at info@intothelight.org.uk and we will send you more details.
