This week we heard the appalling and devastating news of a terrorist attack at a synagogue in Manchester. Understandably this has impacted many people in our communities. Perhaps you are feeling overwhelmed and traumatized perhaps unsafe.
There are many strategies we can put in place to help ourselves but one of the most immediate is actually we can choose to change the way we breath.
Deep breathing
Slows the heart rate
Lowers blood pressure
Relaxes muscles
Promotes a sense of calm
Here is a simple exercise in deep breathing you can practice anywhere at anytime.
Breath in for four counts
Hold for Four counts
Breath out for six counts
Repeat and Repeat and Repeat
Practicing deep breathing regularly can help create a sense of balance, making it easier to manage daily stress and stay grounded in challenging situations.
Also of course do reach out to others. Try not to stay isolated.
Breath Deep and Stay Connected.
